Mother Nature Changed Our Plans...

Day 3.... The winds were too strong to allow us to safely boat to Kapiti Island, so we had a Paekakariki adventure!  The girls did an unbelievably challenging 4 mile hike across beaches, up a summit, and through a valley.

The wind was relentless!  We could lean forward into the wind and not fall over!  You would've been so proud of how hard your daughters worked, and how well they worked as a team!

Happy American Birthday!!!!
Happy American Birthday!!!!

Anthony's niece and her BFF joined us- some new kiwi friends!  The girls have had a great time exploring the differences in the two cultures!  They can't believe the girls say "yes m'am!"

We enjoyed lunch with Anthony's parents- they even put out an American flag in their front yard to greet us!    His parents asked the girls to sing them a song after lunch and they chose the Harpeth Hall Alma Mater!  They would've made you proud!

Tomorrow we'll leave Paekakariki and head to the town of Otaki to visit a Maori tribal center.  We'll be learning a Maori song to sing to them tomorrow at the Welcoming ceremony!

My two favorite quotes from the day: "I can't believe this place is real!"  and " Best Winterim Ever!"  Mrs. Keen and I are so honored to be sharing this amazing experience with your daughters!
